Program details
The QE Fellows Institute follows a year-long program that begins with a week-long intensive training, typically in July, followed by individual research consultations. This longitudinal learning experience provides sustained engagement with colleagues and QE experts.
Accepted QE fellows will receive:
- Subsidized travel to, along with lodging in, Madison to engage in the most in-depth QE training available,
- most meals covered,
- ongoing support from workshop facilitators and mentors throughout the following year.
- Fellows in the 2026-2027 cohort must be able to come to Madison July 27th - July 30st

In addition to the four formal events, we encourage QE institute fellows to take advantage of regular events and resources hosted by the International Society for Quantitative Ethnography (ISQE), including the annual International Conference on Quantitative Ethnography (ICQE), special interest groups, and data challenges. The society has more than 250 members who provide a supportive and welcoming community that enables researchers to grow and connect. With the exception of the conference, all ISQE events and resources are free.
