Dr. Anna Wilson is an Assistant Professor in Science and Math Education at Southern University and A&M College with a joint appointment in Biological Sciences. She holds a PhD in Science and Mathematics Education with a background in biology and experience in STEM instruction, curriculum design, and education research. Her scholarship focuses on improving student engagement, persistence, and success in STEM, particularly in introductory biology and teacher education. Her work integrates flipped and asynchronous course design, Regular and Substantive Interaction, responsible uses of generative AI, and emerging approaches such as Quantitative Ethnography to better understand learning processes and instructional impact in complex educational environments. Dr. Wilson serves as coordinator for General Biology I, leading large scale course redesign and supporting faculty development across multi section courses. She teaches undergraduate biology and doctoral SMED courses, and her research has been shared through peer reviewed publications, national presentations, and NSF supported initiatives.
