Melissa A. Gallagher, Ph.D., is the Senior Research and Evaluation Specialist at the non-profit Integrow Numeracy Solutions. Her research is at the intersection of bilingual and mathematics teacher education. Specifically, she studies the knowledge, beliefs, and practices that teachers of mathematics need to support multilingual students in the mathematics classroom. Recent projects include developing a strengths-based assessment that provides multimodal opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding of mathematics concepts and studying how students with different language backgrounds express that understanding.
