I recently served as the President of the International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS) for the 2025–2026 term, and am a Professor at the University of Haifa, where I lead the School of Learning Sciences and Educational Leadership. The central thread of my scholarship is a boundary-crossing project: establishing a two-way street between person-centered theories of learning and the learning sciences. This work explores how the humanistic, relational foundations of person-centered pedagogies can deepen and humanize the analytical frameworks of the learning sciences, while simultaneously examining how the learning sciences can provide the empirical, design-based tools needed to scale and sustain person-centered environments. Alongside this core focus, my research investigates the intersection of collaborative technologies, innovative practices like maker education, and the cultivation of supportive learning communities. Ultimately, I am dedicated to dismantling the rigid boundaries of formal schooling to cultivate the organic, collaborative, and deeply human ways we naturally learn.
